Vol. 30: People pleasing, authenticity, and creating space for vulnerability
Another week - another list of questions!
This week, we’ve been struggling “people pleasing” tendencies in our house - keeping opinions, preferences, and bad news to ourselves in an effort not to rock the boat. And while that may appear to be rooted in kindness, it actually robs us of opportunities to authentically know, love, support, and accommodate one another. Even more deeply, done too much over time, people pleasing can erode trust and faith that you’ll get the real truth when you talk to one another. Yikes.
Our list of questions this week includes a few about people pleasing, in addition to the usual sort of questions aimed at keeping current and building positivity.
I hope these questions help inspire better, more intentional connecting conversations of your own.
